BARRA Inc. has formed Symphony Asset Management, an investment management unit that will employ quantitative portfolio analysis methods--not to mention Barra's own quantitative analysis tools, Advent Software Inc.'s portfolio management system, Market Vision Corp.'s digital data distribution system and PCs loaded with Intel Corp.'s Pentium chip, among other things.
