Instinet has a lot to be proud of with its Java-based transaction system for fixed income, which is hitting the streets in a few days. Scott McNealy, bigwig at Sun Microsystems, has nominated Instinet Fixed Income for a Computer World Smithsonian Award in the Finance category. Previous winners of the more prestigious awards include people like Bill Joy, co-founder of Sun Microsystems, who won the MCI Worldcom IT Leadership Award for Innovation last year.
