Out of Beta, Smartkarma Aims to Address Research Challenges for the Buy Side

Smartkarma allows for research distribution unbundled from trading commissions.

Asset managers are currently forced to sift through vast amounts of research notes, commentary, and analysis to find the best information. Smartkarma—a service that provides access to customized independent research—aims to change that.

"The industry has been distorted by a marketplace that is inefficient. My view is that we need to completely rethink how the business works," says Smartkarma co-founder Jon Foster.

The service launched on April 12 after being in closed beta since January last
