SS&C Eze won the best order management system provider category in this year’s WatersTechnology Asia Awards, following up its win in the same category in last year’s inaugural awards. WatersTechnology chats to Frank Maltais, Regional Director, APAC, at SS&C Eze, about what he believes separates Eze OMS from other buy-side front-office platforms, how the Asia-Pacific asset management industry differs from other markets, and what the firm’s clients are looking for from the Boston-headquartered buy-side specialist in terms of technology, functionality and support.

WatersTechnology: What do you believe separates Eze OMS from other similar offerings on the market?
Frank Maltais, Regional Director, APAC, SS&C Eze:
Sophisticated functionality backed by unmatched expertise and an exceptional service experience. With 25-plus years in the industry, our knowledge, maturity, and product capabilities make SS&C Eze stand out. Anyone can build software on day one, but expertise and experience take years to mature. Eze OMS is a global multi-asset class platform offering seamless support, it streamlines workflows and minimizes operational risks so that asset managers can take control of their investment operations from portfolio construction through to settlement. Leveraging a vendor-neutral infrastructure, Eze OMS enables clients to achieve true straight-through processing by integrating with virtually any counterparty, third-party platform or internal system they choose.

At SS&C Eze, all our solutions are built for growth. Over time, firms grow and demands change, and investment managers with robust, scalable, and adaptable technology stacks will stand the test of time. That’s where we come in.

WatersTechnology: How do you see the asset management industry developing in Asia over the coming years and what makes it different from other markets?
Maltais:
There is great opportunity for growth in the Asian asset management industry. With local wealth increasing year over year, asset managers who offer products appealing to domestic markets will prosper. However, along with opportunities come challenges. Although Asia’s regulatory environment may not currently be as complex as elsewhere in the world, as assets continue to grow in the region, the regulatory environment is expected to become more sophisticated. With 20+ jurisdictions ranging from mature to emerging economic development and no regional coordinating body, along with a limited range of risk and hedging solutions, asset managers will face the challenge of managing assets across a variety of regulatory regimes. The combination of a maturing investment landscape, eventual asset growth, and the evolving regulatory environment indicate that asset managers need scalable, flexible, and reliable solutions. These solutions will help them reduce systemic risks and strengthen operational resilience.

WatersTechnology: What are your clients looking for and how do you intend to address those needs?
Maltais:
In addition to a robust, flexible multi-asset system, asset managers are looking for a solution to act as the hub of the investment operation ecosystem. At SS&C Eze, we are always working to tighten existing integrations and deliver new, innovative ways to tie together workflows across systems and partners. We’re particularly excited about our connections with other SS&C platforms, such as SS&C’s Geneva, extending their services and solutions to our clients. At SS&C Eze, we continuously focus on the development of our products to ensure our clients have the technology they need to stay ahead of the competition. We will continue to deliver the experience-backed, all-inclusive solutions and personalized, knowledgeable client service and insights our clients need to best utilize our systems, maximize efficiencies, and grow their businesses.
