Nasdaq, SEB Partner on Blockchain for Mutual Funds

The two firms are building a prototype blockchain solution for the Swedish funds market.

The mutual funds industry has emerged as an area of keen interest regarding blockchain's potential applications.

Nasdaq and SEB have agreed to develop the platform, which will be based on Chain’s enterprise-grade distributed-ledger technology (DLT).

“So far we have done a lot in terms of using new technology in areas such as portfolio management,” says Peter Branner, head of investment management at SEB. “If we can use blockchain technology to modernize the customer transactions it will potentially bring positive knock-on effects to the perceived attractiveness of funds as a savings form.”
