BUY-SIDE TECHNOLOGY AWARDS: Best overall buy-side product for 2010: Cadis

The penultimate award of this year’s Buy-Side Technology Awards was one of two awards announced at the November 5 luncheon—the other on-the-day award was that of technology provider of the year. These final two awards were decided by Stewart Eisenhart and Victor Anderson, and, although the panelists’ feedback had a bearing on the outcome of these categories, the panelists were not directly involved in selecting the winner. Consistent with past awards, each of the preceding 22 category winners were considered for this category.

There were three products in the running: StatPro’s new liquidity management tool came into the reckoning, given how topical that aspect of risk management currently is, especially in a buy-side context. StreamBase Systems was also considered, as complex-event processing (CEP) technology continues to garner media attention for its use in supporting high-frequency trading strategies and real-time risk and compliance functions.

But in the end we felt that Cadis, under the leadership of CEO Dan Simpson and co-founder Stuart Plane, was the most deserving provider, given the vendor’s four wins in four years, and the extent to which the buy side continues to be beset with seemingly neverending data management challenges. What also featured prominently is Cadis’s impressive client list. But perhaps more significant than its ability to continue to sign new clients, is its remarkable ability to retain those clients that it has already signed—Cadis has never lost a client since it opened its doors for business back in 2001 under the name Citadel Associates, a ringing endorsement of the fact that the London-based data management specialist is clearly doing something right.  —VBA

JUDGE'S COMMENT
Happy clients are undoubtedly a reliable barometer for gauging not only product sophistication but also unmatched levels of service across the industry.

CADIS REACTION
“These awards are selected by both buy-side experts and users and we are really pleased to be voted as the best overall product of 2011. This clearly demonstrates the pedigree of the Cadis platform. In addition, our long history in the buy-side arena has given us an in-depth knowledge and understanding of its needs. We back this up with our 100 percent implementation and client-retention rate.”
—Dan Simpson, CEO, Cadis
