Nasdaq Readies Price–Size Matching Model

Nasdaq OMX's launch of a price–size matching model in its Nasdaq OMX PSX matching engine on Oct. 8 will be an experiment in making speed a lower priority in trading, according to officials at the exchange.

"We are deemphasizing speed, so it's not the quickest piece of technology," says Brian Hyndman, senior vice president of transaction services at Nasdaq OMX. "Clearly, we still value speed and have two other exchanges where price, time and speed matter. But on PSX, we are emphasizing liquidity
