Fire At SIAC Delays Stock Exchange Opening
THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES
A fire at the Securities Industry Automation Corp. on Friday Nov. 10 caused the New York and American stock exchanges to delay their openings by about an hour and Chicago stock index futures and options traders to halt trading for up to an hour.
The fire began in a basement sub-level of SIAC's downtown New York headquarters at around 8:00 a.m. SIAC is jointly owned by the New York and American stock exchanges and provides them with computer support. While no computers were damaged in the fire
