Smith Barney Business Unit Installs A Separate CIO

MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY

The capital markets group at Smith Barney Shearson Inc. has brought in its own acting chief information officer, Peter Vinella. On a consulting basis, Vinella will serve as the liaison between the trading business units and the information technology groups, which remain under the oversight of central I.S. head Mel Taub.
