BEA SYSTEMS TO CUT STAFF BY 9 TO 10 PERCENT

BEA Systems will cut its workforce by 9 to 10 percent by the end of the year, president and CEO Alfred Chuang says. The integration vendor announced the cuts and some revisions to its cost controls as part of its preliminary third quarter results. Revenue was predicted to be between $217 million and $220 million, which would represent a decrease of 1.8 to 3.1 percent from $224 million in the third quarter of 2000.
