Atkin Out of Instinet as Performance Slumps

NEW YORK--Douglas Atkin, president and chief executive officer of Instinet, and Kenneth Marshall, chief operating officer, are leaving Instinet, it was announced last week. Many industry sources concur that Atkin was the scapegoat for Instinet’s poor Q1 performance and heavily criticized equities platform and that the news reflects parent Reuters’ plans to buy back the remaining shares of Instinet.
