Reuters Asia Ekes Out 5% Sales Growth As Global Results Show Market Tightening

Reuters Asia continues to see decreasing sales growth, with second quarter growth up just three percent following first-quarter growth rates of seven percent compared with the same periods in 1995. The tough conditions in Asia are leaving the region contributing a shrinking percentage of Reuters' global sales and operating income.

Japan, which accounts for around 35 to 40 percent of Reuters' business in Asia, was flat only thanks to the benefits of currency fluctuations. Without those benefits
