Analysts Down on Instinet’s 2002 Results

NEW YORK--Financial analysts are making woeful predictions about Instinet’s fourth quarter and full-year 2002 results, due the week of Feb. 11, citing dismal trading volumes and price competition.

However, disappointing financials aside, Instinet’s technology initiatives are just getting underway and will start to pay off in the next 12 to 18 months, counters Damon Kovelsky, analyst at IDC/Meridien.

The initiatives include harmonization of the Island and Instinet matching engines, the Smart Router
