NASDAQ: MORE STAFF CUTS

The Nasdaq Stock Market has cut its work force, taking a charge of $4.8 million in the third quarter for severance and outplacement costs, officials say. The cuts have left an employee roster that was 891 by the end of the third quarter. Nasdaq officials say they intend to cut 80 more jobs in the fourth quarter. Officials at the electronic securities transaction marketplace report that in the third quarter Nasdaq had a net loss of $5.5 million or $.08 per common share
