Nasdaq System Glitch Causes Headaches in Runup to SuperSOES

NEW YORK--System glitches, caused by a network problem around the time of a trading volume spike, seriously disrupted trading on Nasdaq on June 29, only days before Nasdaq's scheduled launch of SuperSOES.

After trading was halted in Microsoft shares because of breaking news, market participants started entering quotes, and Nasdaq began to experience "intermittent" problems. Efforts to recover the quotation system were unsuccessful, and at 3:02 pm SOES shut down, with Selectnet shutting down 18
