Espeed’s Patent Royalties Help Boost Earnings

NEW YORK--Bond trading network and systems provider eSpeed got a boost for its Q1 2003 results when royalties from its Wagner patent on electronic futures drove a large part of its more-than 600-percent software solutions revenue jump.

"Fees from unrelated parties" comprised $2.1 million of software solutions revenue, a whopping 614.5 percent increase from $300,000 in Q1 2002, officials say.
