Despite Mixed Trader Reactions, Nomura Moves Ahead With Voice

Nomura Securities International Inc. in New York has ported a voice-activated trade-entry application to run on Sun Microsystems Inc. workstations. The application -- which was installed for use by 20 money market traders in New York about a year ago -- was previously PC network-based only (TST, June 29, 1992).
According to John Howe, a senior vice president on the business side at Nomura, the firm's traders have had mixed reactions to the voice technology, which is provided by Verbex Voice
