Economy Weighs Heavy on Data Spend in '08

Initially, budgetary pressures were largely a result of having to cope with data from new European trading venues within the confines of existing budgets (IMD, April 21). But some data managers were already being forced to do more with shrinking budgets as their firms braced for rocky roads ahead.

"That's the huge conflict right now-budgets are going down, but there is more need for better-quality data," said Alexandra Balloff, global head of market data management at WestLB, at Inside Market
