Icap, LSE Confirm Recent Merger Talks

LONDON—U.K. interdealer broker (IDB) Icap and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) were in merger talks over the summer, confirm LSE and Icap officials.

Icap and LSE officials have been meeting since this past June, according to officials from both groups. However, the talks have apparently stalled.

Icap has shelved negotiations over concerns that the LSE’s share price, bolstered by the overtures from the Nasdaq Stock Market earlier this year, is still too high. An official statement from Icap
