The numbers haven’t been pretty all year, and it doesn’t look like they will get better any time soon. In North America, IT spending growth is expected to decelerate to 6.8 percent this year compared to 11 percent the prior year, and the US-born downturn is spreading to other parts of the world, says Kevin White, senior research analyst at technology research firm IDC. White is one of the more optimistic oracles--he expects a turnaround in the first quarter.
