Pickel will take over as CEO at ISDA from 1 January 2012.

Robert Pickel will replace the outgoing CEO of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), Conrad Volstad, effective from 1 January 2012.

Pickel has served as the executive vice chairman of ISDA for the past two years, having previously held the post of CEO from 2001-2009, and general counsel from 1997-2001.

At the request of the board, Volstad will continue to assist the Association as a special advisor, working on strategic initiatives.

"Volstad has been an ideal leader of ISDA. I have enjoyed working with him and I look forward to his continued contributions," says Pickel. "ISDA faces a number of opportunities and challenges ahead. Our focus is on addressing these issues and fulfilling our mandate by supporting derivatives markets across asset classes, geographies, and trading and clearing environments. To do this, we will continue to reach out to all types of market participants around the world."
