Analytics and data management services provider Xenomorph has integrated its TimeScape EDM+ enterprise data management (EDM) solution with MongoDB, a NoSQL document database, a linkage that is intended to add a more complex capability to Xenomorph's offering, according to Brian Sentance, CEO of the company.

"In our toolkit approach, the first layer is working with data and analytics," he says. "The second layer is an EDM approach for exception management, data cleansing and an audit trail of changes. The third layer is a bit of a transition about what business problems our clients deal with can be turned into more readily consumable services."

The integration of MongoDB into TimeScape EDM+ opens up a new avenue for the solution to make use of a cloud-based data resource, explains Sentance.

"We have everything we already had for data management—like exception management, Excel interfaces and APIs," he says. "They work exactly the same way [on the integrated system]. There's no new skills to learn, which makes NoSQL databases more applicable."

With the integration, users of TimeScape EDM+ can access data stored in MongoDB through any of the solution's application and programming interfaces, including Excel interfaces or the Tableau or Microsoft Power BI business intelligence services.

Xenomorph's TimeScape EDM+ solution "has a data model that is very closely aligned with the flexibility that some of the newer NoSQL databases offer," says Sentance. "This is an alternative to what we already do with some of our relational [database] implementations."
