Optimark Gets Ready For Labor Day, Prospective Clients Test Capacity

NEW YORK--Optimark Technologies, the electronic alternative trading system founded by former Instinet chief executive Bill Lupien, has pushed back its prospective launch date to Labor Day, Lupien says.

The revised schedule represents at least the second delay in the system's launch. At this time last year, Optimark's backers, which include Dow Jones, were optimistic that they would be up and running by the beginning of 1998. By last fall, that had been pushed back to this year's second quarter
