As TST went to press, executives at Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. were preparing to select a winner in the firm's increasingly rough-and-tumble trading room data distribution system request for proposal contest. Sources say the firm postponed a planned May 10 meeting at which it was to make the final decision on the 800-position system.
