Telerate's WAN Ban Strengthened; Users' Squeals Grow

Dow Jones Telerate's global policy prohibiting users from redistributing Telerate data across their own wide area networks continues to rankle financial market data consumers. Although the ban was reconfirmed last fall, its full impact has yet to be felt: As part of its decision to continue the ban, Telerate determined that any previously negotiated exceptions to the policy will be revoked once the contracts expire. As a result, increasingly, major global users of Telerate's data are rethinking
