Data Key to Nasdaq's Boston Buy

The BSE announced its decision to close its Boston Equities Exchange business on Sept. 5 in the face of low trading volumes. Now, Nasdaq, which has merged its Brut and Inet ECN purchases with its Nasdaq Market Center to create a single liquidity pool, plans to resurrect BEX as a second trading center-potentially with different pricing tiers. Nasdaq says it will also use BSE's clearing license to reduce clearing costs for Nasdaq trading firms.
