Thomson Reuters Cuts Jobs, Plans Hires

The offer period for the voluntary scheme, initiated on June 17 (IMD, June 23), expired July 15. The scheme's goal of shedding around 70 London-based editorial staff was necessary to combine Reuters and Thomson Financial News newsrooms in London without resorting to "compulsory job losses," the memo states.

Enough journalists took up the offer, so Thomson Reuters no longer needs to consider compulsory redundancies, and will instead focus on completing the integration of the newswire operations
