New Xinhua Rules Intercept Foreign News

FRONT PAGE: NEWSWIRES

Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese government-controlled news agency, has issued new rules designed to stop foreign news agencies such as Reuters, Bloomberg, and Dow Jones Newswires from working directly with their customers in China.

According to a statement released by Xinhua, the rules mandate that all news delivered to clients in mainland China be sent through Xinhua. The rules also ban content that "harms China's national security or honor" or "disturbs the Chinese economy or social order."
