LSE Outage Prompts Calls for European Consolidated Tape of Exchange Data

A technical problem caused the LSE to suspend continuous trading for much of Monday, Sept. 8, leaving the market without benchmark prices for LSE stocks, and causing lower quote and trade volumes on alternative venues.

The technical issues began when some member firms experienced problems connecting to the LSE's trading gateway, causing the exchange to suspend "market-wide connectivity" at 9:15am and declare an intra-day auction phase to market participants. Continuous trading resumed for 21
