LSE Declines Nasdaq's Final Offer

FRONT PAGE: NEWS ANALYSIS

LONDON—The Nasdaq Stock Market made its final offer for the London Stock Exchange (LSE) last week in a bid that would see the two exchanges integrate their equity platforms into one, Nasdaq officials say.

Nasdaq is making a cash offer to buy the issued shares in the LSE at £12.43 ($23.58) per share for a total value of £2.9 billion ($5.5 billion), including debt. Under U.K. competition rules, Nasdaq had to make an offer equal to or greater than the price at which it last bought LSE shares.
