Every changing of the calendar offers the chance for a fresh start. But from the sounds of it, the first half of 2011 will not begin with a bang.

This week Victor Anderson, the editor-in-chief of Waters and Buy-Side Technology, said that the first six months of the new year will be dominated by a "wait-and-see" mentality. Sure enough, last week SimCorp released a survey of asset managers where most said that they did not plan on releasing any new products in the first quarter of the year.
