The solution
As more and more firms embrace new technologies, they are looking for solutions that deliver curated data in their environment of choice. Xpressfeed, S&P Global Market Intelligence’s flagship feed delivery solution, provides clients with a single, integrated data source in item-level transaction files. This data warehouse solution includes the necessary foundational datasets required to underpin quantitative research and modeling. Data is delivered in packages that are zipped and posted to a secure location accessible via FTP or Xpressfeed Web Service allowing users to customize and receive only the data they require.
Recent milestones
- Enhancements to the Xpressfeed Loader allow for several relational database management system (RDBMS) deployment models and is compatible with most commonly used RDBMSs, including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- XpressAPI allows developers to leverage secure web services to access S&P Global datasets and curated third-party datasets, or interact directly with the web services via Representational State Transfer (REST)/JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
- Snowflake allows clients to directly access and query S&P Global and selected third-party data, eliminating the data ingestion process and improving their productivity and efficiency
Future objectives
As S&P Global Market Intelligence makes more delivery mechanisms available for its clients to fuel their models and visualization, it will continue to build out the content available via these new channels.
Why they won
S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Xpressfeed offering wins its first ever WatersTechnology award, thanks to its ability to deliver curated data into clients’ various operating environments. S&P Global’s flagship feed delivery offering provides clients with a single, integrated data source featuring item-level transaction files, and by so doing, provides them with the data required to drive their quantitative research and modeling activities. Essentially, it takes care of the heaving lifting associated with sourcing and managing complex datasets, allowing clients to focus on the various downstream business functions contingent on that data.
