Waters Rankings 2022: Best market data provider—Bloomberg
Overview
B-Pipe delivers consolidated and normalized real-time streaming prices to service the full spectrum of front-office use-cases. It provides low-latency access to 35 million instruments across all asset classes, aggregated data from over 330 exchanges and more than 5,000 contributors, as well as proprietary Bloomberg pricing sources and market indices.
“We are thrilled to work with Bloomberg to enable access to the industry’s leading real-time market data through Google Cloud’s secure, sustainable and scalable infrastructure. Together, we are helping to democratize access to datasets that help front- to back-office professionals uncover useful insights they need to optimize investments and improve performance.”
Philip Moyer, vice president, strategic industries, Google Cloud
The Solution
B-Pipe not only eliminates the burden of having to maintain multiple adaptors for each venue that users require data from, but it also offers analytics to improve workflows. These include time-sliced volume-weighted average price (VWAP), real-time volatility analysis, services to help set up new securities in real time, liquidity analytics services, and the ability to subscribe to new issues.
Secret Sauce
B-Pipe differentiates itself through data quality, reliability, the fact that it’s a fully managed service, and because Bloomberg supplements market data with its own unique content. The firm recently made B-Pipe and all unique real-time content natively accessible globally in each of the three major public cloud providers.
Recent Milestones
From a technology perspective, Bloomberg continues to add cloud-native endpoints to offer low-latency market data in the cloud. Here is a recent public statement in collaboration with Google Cloud Platform.
On the content side, fixed-income automation continues to drive enhancements with additional real-time content, including Pick, new issues, and Bloomberg Indices.
“Bloomberg continues to be an industry leader in real-time content, technology and service delivery. We continuously enhance our Real-Time Platform enabling customers to automate more of their workflows with the highest quality data, while benefiting from our flexible delivery options.”
Cory Albert, global head of Real Time Products, Bloomberg
Future Objectives
Bloomberg will focus on the following:
- Expanding its market data content
- Supplementing its market data feed with additional data services to help solve specific business workflows
- Offering a managed technology that allows customers to run their applications anywhere with a consistent experience
- Providing tools to help reduce the operational burden of managing feeds and automating internal work streams
