Waters Rankings 2016: Best Portfolio Management System Provider — RiskVal Financial Solutions
RVPortfolio undergoes a series of enhancements and upgrades this year

RiskVal’s RVPortfolio is, according to the New York-based trading technology and risk management specialist, a real-time software-as-a-service (SaaS)-delivered platform that offers enterprise-wide, fully integrated real-time “bucket risk analysis,” in addition to real-time P&L.
Jordan Hu, CEO of RiskVal, explains that RVPortfolio is designed to support multi-level portfolio hierarchy, allowing risk managers to drill down and generate a detailed view of risk according to portfolio, book, trader, strategy, sub-strategy, product, or individual trades. It is part of the company’s RiskVal Suite, a trading system that serves as a complete valuation and risk management platform.
Success in this year’s Waters Rankings coincides with the product undergoing major enhancements: Since the beginning of 2016, RVPortfolio has expanded to cover the FX, commodities and equities markets. “This will give a full coverage portfolio management system,” says Hu. Also, beginning midway through this year, RiskVal has been working with tier-1 asset managers on a peer-to-peer lending platform, one of the most in-demand services across the buy side right now, aiming to launch the new offering by the end of the year. “We are also working with multiple prime brokers to create a straight-through process (STP) so that their clients can access RVPortfolio without going through in-house integration,” adds Hu.
RiskVal’s regular upgrades to RVPortfolio ensures that its quality is never compromised, one of the reasons for its distinction this year. Being able to offer quality products in times where market transparency is top of the agenda and regulatory demands around risk management have never been greater, is of significance for market participants.
In this respect, flexibility is the magic word. Hu estimates that traditional middle-office, end-of-day risk management systems face challenges in terms of meeting demands for intra-day or even real-time portfolio risk management with flexible scenario analysis, due to increasing market volatility. In this environment, Hu says that technology—such as cloud technology, which provides a scalable and cost-effective solution—will play a significant role in the next generation of portfolio and risk management services. The key, however, will be a flexible solution that adopts new financial products and combines reliable market data with a flexible analytics framework, he says.
