In a case of history repeating itself, RealTick is once again tops, this time as Eze Software Group’s RealTick EMS.

RealTick extended its mobile capabilities with the launch earlier this year of RealTick UltraLite for browsers and mobile devices. UltraLite provides users with access to quotes, watch lists, order entry/blotter, profit-and-loss (P&L) details, market data, and news.

“Demand made us create a lighter version of RealTick that still allows you to trade and to maintain suitability rules and risk checks that you have on the main platform,” says Daniel Rooney, president of Eze Software Group/RealTick EMS. “This also opens up a new market for us in the wealth management space or trading through a web portal,” he says.

On the market data front, Eze Software has released Market-Data-on-Demand, which charges clients for actual data use rather than simply for data access. With over 260 broker networks, Rooney explains that growth is being driven heavily by the buy side.

“This regulatory environment is such that not only is the buy side looking for a consolidated desktop—they also want all of the broker relationships to be available through one electronic platform,” he says. “Traditionally, the boutique brokers have been off-network, so to speak, where the buy side would call the broker. Right now, we’re seeing from a regulatory workflow and compliance perspective, they want this whole scope of relationships to be available on the same platform.”

Going forward, RealTick will look to expand its coverage so that buy-side firms can look at the execution quality of their order flow. And the buy side will continue to push for more, Rooney says: more reports, more data, and more capabilities from a single suite of products.

Eze Software’s RealTick EMS also won this year’s Waters Rankings gong, decided by the readers of Waters.
