Sell-Side Technology Awards 2013: Best Sell-Side Front-Office Execution Platform ─ Bloomberg
"The Bloomberg Professional service is a powerful tool for anyone in the financial markets," says Geoffrey Patsch, global head of SSEOMS. "Leveraging that power through an OMS streamlines workflow and offers a major competitive advantage. SSEOMS provides a single touch point to improve the quality and speed at which our users distribute and act upon information. Taking advantage of all that Bloomberg has to offer has allowed our clients to focus on what they do best-alpha generation.
Last year, Bloomberg introduced a new liquidity marketing device, Sales and Trading Efficiency Platform (STEP), an application that combines customer relationship management (CRM) functionality with tools for indications of interests (IOIs) and average daily volume (ADV), and custom news and analytics to automate daily tasks for sales and trading and streamline communication processes. STEP distributes order flow and provides alerts to sales and trading, identifies the best customers to target, and automates the use of customers' preferred methods of communication.
"Our SSEOMS account representatives are attentive and responsive to our needs on a real-time basis," says JT Cacciabaudo, head of equity trading and sales trading at Birmingham, Ala.-based broker, Sterne, Agee & Leach. "We appreciate that level of service. This client attention is consistently demonstrated by all levels of Bloomberg management. Bloomberg constantly requests feedback as they always want to know where they can improve their product offering as well as what is working successfully. This service enhances the entire client experience with regard to our daily dealings with our OMS provider."
Bloomberg has lately focused on adding more powerful and actionable trading analytics, as well as its alerting capabilities. It is planning to expand into more asset classes in 2013 and add additional global exchange connections. Patsch says he is particularly excited about the firm's distribution capabilities to allow brokers to better communicate with clients.
