Telerate Wins Preliminary Injunction; Programit Must Stop Selling Excel-A-Rate Terminal

After 30 months of judicial deliberation, Telerate Systems, Inc. finally won a preliminary injunction to stop Programit, Inc. and Programit chief Marshall Caro from selling the "Excel-a-rate" terminal emulator. The U.S. District Court ruling was a grand slam for Telerate, finding merit in all of its claims and no merit in Programit's cross-motion claiming antitrust violations.

Telerate's victory was so lopsided, however, that not much can be learned from it -- either by other information
