I always have a follow-up question: When will compliance go away? Of course, I don’t believe that compliance will ever truly disappear with things as they are now, but what would happen if the days of the go-go 1990s returned and we were minting new millionaires every minute? What would happen if the so-called Web 2.0 became hotter than a Netscape IPO? Would compliance finally go away then?
Most CIOs say it would not, but they eventually admit that the obsession with compliance will recede
