For the last nine months, London has been a battleground between rival commodity exchanges the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) and the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE).
Last November, Nymex set up a trading floor in Dublin, which was widely interpreted as a testing ground for a potential floor in London.
