Evolution of the OEMS

The integration of two separate systems and how they best serve the industry

Evolution is slow. By definition it takes time and there’s a natural thinning out of the weak. Take, for example, the OEMS. The acronym was spawned almost a decade ago by LatentZero—which would later be acquired by Fidessa—and is used to describe an order-management system (OMS) combined with an execution-management system (EMS).

Some on the buy side have bought into the idea. Chicago-based hedge fund giant Citadel, for example, integrated its OMS with Redi’s EMS to create a proprietary OEMS
