Cymba Technologies is to provide investment management capabilities to the South-African fund managers.

The Capricorn Capital Group is an alternative asset manager with offices in Johannesburg and London.

As the fund manager was looking to launch a new UCITS fund, the deployment of the Athena IMS platform offered the firm the support it needed for pre- and post-trade compliance checks and overall adherence to the UCITS framework requirements.

The platform also supports the existing funds and strategies thanks to a full end-to-end front office workflow, overseeing the investment decisions, electronic trading and straight-through processing to outsourced fund accounting platforms.

"We conducted a market research of existing platforms that would be suitable for our desire to launch new strategies, enabling us to operate within the regularity landscape efficiently," says Robert Fihrer, chief executive officer at Capricorn. "Also of paramount importance to Capricorn was the ability to migrate existing strategies to the new platform, enable electronic trading and future proof the organization to changes across the operational environments. In Cymba Athena we believe we have made the right choice and have been very impressed with the product's functionality, ease of integration and more importantly the professional team behind it."
