ActivePivot now incorporates user interfaces compatible with the MDX query language and XML for analysis (XMLA) communication protocol.
Tableau Software, Tibco Spotfire, Oracle Oibee and Microsoft Excel are some of the examples of tools now enabled to query the server.
Georges Bory, co-founder and managing director at Quartet FS, says the upgrade will provide Quartet FS customers with greater choice.
"The major benefit is that you're not locked into a single database," he says. "If you're already using Spotfire to connect to a relational database, then you can also connect to an analytical database like ours. For the user, the major benefit is that they can build dashboards that connect to multiple sources and can consolidate data from multiple environments into his dashboard and analyze data coming from multiple sources."
