The Heavy Burden of Automating Cash Management Processes

One of the open secrets within the financial services industry is that most investment banking firms do not know how much cash they have on hand. For the majority of the time, the assets are well hidden within ubiquitous Microsoft Excel spreadsheets flying between file and email servers throughout the business.

In a recent Citibank survey conducted with its treasury clients, only about 20 percent of respondents had visibility to more than 95 percent of their cash. Another 20 percent reported
