DENVER--New Era of Networks' (Neon) fourth quarter results suggest that it was a tough year for the middleware company despite achieving 50 percent year-over-year revenue growth.

Fourth quarter and year-end 2000 revenues of $40.2 million and $188 million, respectively, equalled a loss per share of $0.34 before charges for the quarter ended Dec. 31 and $0.16 for the year. Neon's fourth quarter earnings per share of $0.34 included a $0.12 charge for uncollectable receivables.
