As Market for ‘Plumbing’ Disappears, EAIVendors Scramble for a Second Act

NEW YORK--The fast-paced, high-growth market for enterprise application integration (EAI) vendors that peaked in the ‘90s is long dead, say industry participants and observers, and vendors are scrambling to adjust to a down market, attempting evolutionary as well as radical measures to survive.

Analysts and the vendors themselves say simply supplying basic connectors and "plumbing" to chief technology officers (CTOs) at financial firms is no longer viable.

Increasingly, EAI players must move "up
