Electronic Bond Market Set For 1998 Debut, System Automates Telephone Bidding

Bond traders and investors may soon have an automated matching system that does for them some of the things Reuters' Instinet and other electronic communications networks have done for equities. The service will be tested within the next two or three months by New York-based start-up TradeWeb, although the firm's president, Jim Toffey, says it's not accurate to depict his system as a mirror image of these electronic equities markets.
