NEW YORK--After HSBC merged with Republic Bank of New York last year, HSBC incorporated Republic's trading desk into its securities division by building a brand new 350-position trading room. Since mid-2000 HSBC has occupied the entire tenth floor and part of the ninth at 452 Fifth Ave. in midtown Manhattan.
"It was pretty ambitious, rebuilding Republic's trading floor completely from scratch," says Kris Stala, managing director of information technology for HSBC Securities (USA).
