SIA Thinks Twice, but No One Else Does

The Securities Industry Association (SIA) is to reevaluate the target date for T+1 at its meeting in July, according to a statement made during the SIA Operations Conference two weeks ago. But despite the excited reaction from the press, most people in the industry aren’t paying much attention.

Donald Kittell, executive vice president at the SIA, points to the havoc wreaked by Sept. 11 and the struggling economy as reasons for a possible delay. Kittell says the target date remains intact but
