Banks Test RTW Alternative

TRADING ROOM TECHNOLOGIES

NEW YORK--Four banks are testing Caplin Systems’ new Web-based, thin-client service, designed to be an alternative to the legacy Reuters Trader Workstation (RTW) and next generation Kobra front-ends.

Caplin officials say the prospective customers have calculated that using a thin client would cost 90 percent less than RTW, not counting the cost of supporting the Reuters Triarch digital market data distribution platform and other infrastructure costs.

The service, dubbed Mongoose, displays Reuters
