WSTA Highlights Industry Concerns As Decimalization Looms On Horizon

NEW YORK--The advent of decimalization will bring a huge increase in data traffic that could flood securities firms if they don't prepare for the change, and some smaller firms may not have the resources to do anything about it.

Firms will have to measure their processing requirements, network bandwidth and process timing to determine how much network capacity and additional computing they may need to handle the switch to decimal from fractional quotes, said Tee Williams, principal of R. Shriver
